Maladaptive - Reviews on Inkitt

Loved
"I took my time reading this book because some parts felt too real; some hit too close to home. The blend of humor with drama made it all the more palatable and I laughed and cried out loud...a lot. Zinnia Sherwood's writing is beautiful, polished, and entertaining and the characters are loveably human. I can't recommend this book enough."

Maladaptive
"Excellent writing. Beautiful dialogue, creatively contrived with twists that are unexpected takes on the humble moments of life. Human drama in its rawest, really really interesting to read and dwell upon."

More please! :-)
"A fantastic can't-put-down novel by an author who expertly navigates the line between hilarious comedy and heartbreaking drama. The story of Cara - a very real woman with very real issues and oodles of imagination - takes you straight down a rabbit hole that spits you out in Wonderland.

It's one of these stories that's hard to put a label on, because I truly think that each reader will take something different from it. A trinket. A tchotchke. Something you can never let go of. Brilliant!

I am enjoying this gem and can't wait for the next installment."

Amazingly Believable
"As odd as it may sound to some readers, this book is so bizarrely real-world it feels as if the author were writing her own memoirs. Though I've never experienced the level of fame induction Cara has, it feels as if I'm meeting a kindred soul - after we've fallen through the rabbit hole into Wonderland. I can't wait to read the next chapters!!!"

Hilarious
"I don't read a lot of comedy, but the offbeat, quirky humour in this book really won me over. Cara is a hilarious protagonist and it's so enjoyable being immersed in her fizzing, zany mind. Her instruction-manual-style descriptions of her own psychology are especially funny. There is underlying pathos in this story too, as we gradually discover more about Cara's mental struggles.

I've only read the first 19 chapters... but I can already say I'm charmed and looking forward to seeing what happens next."

A Maladaptive Christmas Interlude - Reviews on Inkitt

Everything You'd Want a Christmas Interlude to Be
If you're reading Maladaptive (even if you're not), make room to read this incredibly charming holiday anecdote. It's got everything you didn't even know you needed - more of Hannah, Mulder and Scully fantasies, shrooms, kittens, live music, spicy scenes + TONS of shenanigans. This author is excellent, this had me laughing all the way way through."

Sixty-Six - Reviews on Inkitt

COOL SO FAR!!!
"A music revolution in the 2060's??! Cool!!!

I love the premise and the music-driven plot. Can't wait to see more from those young protagonists. Speaking of which, I thought there were so so many characters to keep track of, but they're all interesting and it's fun to see them come together throughout the story.

can sense that the fun part is just starting... we'll see😆"

There are so many reasons why I am LOVING this
"Firstly, the year this is based in, while in the future, is so vivid. It's very well explained and you can see exactly the perspective and decisions that would've lead us to this (dystopian, in my opinion) future. And I love that. Especially as someone who doesn't read much sci-fi/futuristic novels. It was easy to grasp but also so well-thought out and not at all surface level.

I also love the characters. Sometimes in books with multiple POVs, I find myself drawn to a few or even just one of them and dreading reading the other POVs. But not with this one. Every character is different and interesting and each and every one has a soft spot in my heart.

The writing style itself is so humorous but also poignant. Sometimes you'll be reading a line and it makes you laugh and then the next line is deep and really makes you ponder, ya know. I love love love this book so far and I'm eager to read anything this astounding author puts out💙"
